Who we are

The headquarters are in Tirano in the province of Sondrio, in the mountains of upper Lombardy.

Everything stems from the intuition of the young Federica (IKA) who, loving her valley very much and fully appreciating its beauty, gave us the idea to develop a path that would cross the territory of our Province and that would have the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Tirano as its destination , “Celeste Patron of Valtellina”.

Thus was born the “Marian Way of the Alps“, a religious, spiritual, naturalistic and cultural journey that winds through the heart of the Alps, between the chain of the Rhaetian Alps, bordering on neighboring Switzerland and that of the Orobie Alps, until it touches the majesty of the Stelvio National Park.

We have enthusiastically carried out this project, now also supported by the Rectory of the Sanctuary and local institutions, identifying and tracing a path on paths and mule tracks, among terraced vineyards, fields, woods and clearings in the middle of the coast, passing through villages and towns rich in history, culture and secular signs of the sacred. Many friends and supporters are joining us, bringing valuable contributions and talents, enthusiastically sharing the proposals for the development of this path and for the various initiatives that we intend to propose and address for the protection of the territory, for a future and sustainable tourism and aware. If pilgrimage has always meant an experience of deep faith, today there is an increasing awareness that walking benefits the mind, soul and body and we believe that the sacredness of the mountains, their energy, can give regenerating emotions and sensations, whatever the the most intimate motivations of each.

We wish to involve more and more people so that we can move towards a return to a “more human dimension” and create networks both on our territory and beyond. We offer ourselves as a reference point for those who intend to undertake the “Marian Way of the Alps” and to encourage the cultural growth of hospitality and the exchange of experiences between pilgrims, wayfarers and walkers.

The associative life is regulated by its own statute and the social offices have a duration of three years.
